Li Auto is becoming a popular name in premium EVs in China, setting new standards so far. The charging capacity of Mega Minivan is an example of this. In a demo at a fast-charging station, the Mega Minivan went from nearly empty (just under 10%) to 80 percent charged in just 10 minutes and 36 seconds. This is less than a coffee break. Let us tell you that till now the fastest fast-charging EV is such as Kia EV6 which can charge from 10% to 80% in about 18 minutes. Usually, EV users charge their vehicles overnight, but while traveling, charging speed matters most.
The most important thing is how much power the Mega is getting in such a short time. Starting with just 68 kilometers left in the tank and a range of 568 kilometers after charging. This range of approximately 500 kilometers was achieved in just 10 minutes. This achievement is thanks to Mega’s batteries supplied by CATL, one of China’s battery manufacturers.
The minivan can charge at a maximum charging rate of 521 kilowatts, which is more than double the capacity of current Teslas. While some charging stations in the US are offering up to 350 kW, there are only a few cars that can make full use of that power. Along with being on top in terms of vehicle capacity, China is also ahead in charging infrastructure, with stations ready to provide 500 kilowatts or more of power.
