The iconic exhaust note of the Royal Enfield Classic 350, quite famously nicknamed the “dug dug” in India, is on course to get a green edge. The Chennai-based manufacturer has unveiled the Classic 350 ‘Flex Fuel’ model at the ongoing Bharat Mobility Global Expo in New Delhi.
In terms of design and appearance, the Classic 350 Flex resembles a regular Classic 350, with the exception of its distinctive paint scheme. It sports a metallic green fuel tank adorned with red livery and gets a single seat and wire-spoke wheels.
What is Flex Fuel?
Flex-fuel vehicles are manufactured to run on a blend of petrol and ethanol, an alcohol-based biofuel derived from renewable sources like sugarcane or corn. The exact ethanol content (usually between 10% and 85%) can be adjusted depending on availability and regulations.
Royal Enfield Classic 350 Flex Fuel: Engine
The 350cc engine can use a mix of petrol and ethanol, and as per a spec sheet shared by the company, this future model would be able to run on an ethanol mix of up to 85 percent. This engine makes 20 hp and 27 Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
The manufacturer hasn’t revealed any launch date for the model yet but it can be expected to hit the streets sometime next year. It is worth noting that there are several models available in India that can run on E20 petrol (20 percent Ethanol mix) but as the technology and infrastructure progresses, we can expect the blending percentage to increase.
